Dawn Rising: A New Era of Sustainability

2025 | Up-cycled materials including approximately 14,400 plastic lids, 2,500 plastic hospital vial caps, acrylic paint, cardboard, field turf, furniture board scraps, garden hose, Mardi-Gras beads, pool float, paper scraps, tee-shirts, and vinyl plank flooring scraps on plywood

Dawn Rising celebrates Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s leadership in sustainability and zero waste. Featuring a bee box, raised garden beds, and a rain harvesting cistern, the artwork reflects the venue’s innovative urban garden, bee keeping, and water reuse efforts. The sun symbolizes solar energy and natural light that power the stadium’s operations.

No More Liddering prepared a custom "lid kit" for this artwork, by preparing the artwork design template and up-cycled materials with 25 volunteers in Marietta, Georgia. Additional lids were collected at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The final artwork was then assembled on-site on October 20, 2025 during the Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s STEAM Day event, presented by Norfolk Southern, in collaboration with more than 300 students and teachers from the Atlanta-metro area, showcasing the power of community and education.

Dawn Rising honors Dawn Brown, Senior Manager of Stadium Tours, Education Programs, and Sustainability, whose vision helps lead this new era of environmental action.
