ATLANTA – Sept. 6, 2017 – The Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United announce the Row of Honor at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Five lower level seats will be reserved for members of the City of Atlanta Police Department (APD) and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) at every Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United home game. The seat dedication, which will remain a staple inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium indefinitely, is a part of the Falcons and United’s continued commitment to giving back to those who serve.
“These men and women put on a uniform every day and devote their lives to protecting the Atlanta community,” said Steve Cannon, CEO, AMB Group – the parent company of the Falcons and United. “Many of these men and women stand inside and outside of the stadium, rain or shine, ensuring the safety of our fans, players and associates on a weekly basis, and never get the opportunity to sit down and enjoy a game,” said Cannon. “This is a small thank you to those who continue to protect the entire city of Atlanta day in and day out.”
The seats, emblazoned with the U.S. flag and APD and AFRD logos, will be used by the individual departments on a rotating game-by-game basis. “We’re grateful to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United for recognizing the sacrifices of first responders with this thoughtful honor,” said Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields. “We look forward to rooting for both teams from these special seats.”
The APD and AFRD will be responsible for choosing which individuals attend each game. “This recognition just goes to show the dedication and appreciation AMB Group has for the men and women that protect our great city,” said Fire Chief Joel G. Baker. “Our firefighters are thankful and humbled for the opportunity to support the Falcons and Atlanta United from the Row of Honor.”
The Falcons and United will host eight more home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017. This number does not include playoff season for both teams, where the designated seats will continue to be honored.
